Grand Hyatt Incheon Review

After arriving in Seoul on Korean Air Business Class Airbus A350 from Hong Kong, I made my way to the Grand Hyatt Incheon for a one-night stay before continuing my trip.

The Grand Hyatt Incheon sits just minutes from Terminal 1. Its former West Tower was rebranded as Hyatt Regency Incheon Paradise City in 2025, while Grand Hyatt Incheon continues to operate from the East Tower. The hotel has several dining options, including Restaurant 8, Vy Bar & Karaoke, a deli, and 24-hour room service. Guests also have access to a Grand Club lounge, indoor pool, sauna, fitness center, and complimentary airport shuttle service.

For me, the location was ideal for an overnight stop near the airport, and my World of Hyatt Globalist status made the stay even better – starting with a 7am check-in.

Checking In at 7:00 A.M.

With a 7:00 a.m. arrival, I honestly expected to just drop my bags and wait until later for a room. Instead, they checked me in right away. After an overnight flight, that early check-in could not have come at a better time.

I was thanked for being a World of Hyatt Globalist and informed that I had received a suite upgrade. Given my 7:00 a.m. arrival, however, the suite was not ready yet. The hotel checked me into another room in the meantime, with the plan to move me once the suite became available later that afternoon.

But after checking in that morning, nobody mentioned the suite upgrade again. I never followed up either, because the room I had was already more than sufficient for the stay. At that point, I was more than happy with the 7:00 a.m. check-in. Add a late checkout the following day, and I effectively had access to the room for almost two full days while paying for just one night. For $189, I certainly wasn’t complaining.

1 King Bed Room

My room featured one king bed and was surprisingly spacious. There was plenty of room around the bed, along with a seating area, desk, television, minibar and the usual in-room amenities. After an overnight flight from Hong Kong, all I really wanted at that point was somewhere comfortable to rest. And that’s exactly what I did.

So Much for Exploring Seoul

By this point, the travel was starting to catch up with me. I had recently flown from New York to Casablanca, spent some time at the Hyatt Regency Casablanca, flew from Casablanca to Lagos, Lagos to Hong Kong via Doha, took a ferry to Macau and spent a few days at the Andaz Macau, returned to Hong Kong, and then continued on to Seoul. After all of that, I was running on very little energy. So once I got into the room, I did exactly what I needed to do. I slept through most of the day.

Excellent Soundproofing

One thing I noticed during all that sleeping was how quiet the room was. For a hotel sitting right next to one of the busiest airports in Asia, the soundproofing was surprisingly good. I barely heard any aircraft noise from outside. That’s something I think is especially important for an airport hotel because the last thing you want after a long flight is to finally get into bed and spend the night listening to planes take off.

The Shower Was Outdated

While the room itself was comfortable, the shower was easily my least favorite part. The bathroom had a shower-over-bathtub setup with a handheld showerhead mounted on an adjustable rail. There was no separate fixed overhead showerhead, and I really didn’t like the setup. The handheld shower could stay mounted on the rail, but I still prefer a proper fixed showerhead. For a Grand Hyatt, the whole setup felt dated.

Grand Club Lounge

Later that evening, I made my way to the Grand Club Lounge for happy hour. The lounge itself was spacious, with plenty of seating and views around the hotel and airport area. There was enough food available during happy hour that you could easily make dinner out of it.

The spread included dishes such as tomato pasta, sautéed chicken, dumplings, along with several other hot and cold options. Although quantity wasn’t a problem, taste was. Most of the food I tried wasn’t particularly flavorful. It wasn’t terrible, but there wasn’t anything that made me want to go back for seconds either.

Breakfast at Restaurant 8

As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I received complimentary breakfast during my stay. Depending on the property, Globalist breakfast may be offered in the club lounge or at the hotel restaurant. At the Grand Hyatt Incheon, breakfast was served at Restaurant 8, the hotel’s main restaurant.

According to the hotel’s description, Restaurant 8 offers a collection of several dining concepts, including café, noodles, grill, sushi, yakitori and desserts.

At first glance, the breakfast buffet looked pretty impressive, as there was a large spread with plenty of food. But once I started looking through the spread, I was a little disappointed. Most of the options felt very continental and international, and I didn’t see much in the way of local Korean breakfast dishes. And I’m in South Korea. Come on.

One of the things I enjoy about traveling is trying local food, and hotel breakfast is often an easy opportunity to do that. The Grand Hyatt had a huge buffet, but I still walked away feeling like there should have been more Korean food represented.

Annyeonghaseyo Seoul

Since I had slept through the entire previous day, I wasn’t about to leave South Korea without at least making it into Seoul. So, on my second day, I headed into Myeongdong.

I spent a good part of the day walking around, eating and exploring the area before eventually heading back toward the hotel.

Myeongdong

The funny part is that I didn’t return until around 5:00 p.m. Despite that, the hotel had no problem with the late checkout. That made the stay even more valuable. I had checked in at around 7:00 a.m. the previous morning and didn’t finally leave until around 5:00 p.m. the following day. For a one-night booking, that’s a ridiculous amount of usable hotel time.

Disclaimer: Please note that early check-in and extended late checkout are not guaranteed and are always subject to availability.

Was the $189 Rate Worth It?

Absolutely. For $189, I got an extremely early check-in, a spacious king room, Grand Club access, breakfast, and a very late checkout the following day. Even though the upgrade I had been told about never materialized, I really couldn’t be upset about it. The hotel gave me something that was probably more useful on this particular stay.

I was able to check in immediately after arriving from Hong Kong, sleep for most of the day, have dinner at the lounge, spend the following day in Myeongdong, and still return to the hotel before finally checking out. That’s a lot of value from a one-night stay.

Final Thoughts

My stay at the Grand Hyatt Incheon wasn’t perfect, but overall I was very satisfied. The biggest positives were the early check-in, late checkout, spacious room and excellent soundproofing. The Grand Club happy hour had enough food to make a meal out of, although I thought the food itself could have been more flavorful.

Breakfast had a large selection, but I would have liked to see some Korean dishes. And that shower? Yeah, I’m still not a fan. But when I look at the entire stay and remember that I paid just $189, it’s difficult to complain.

Being able to check in at 7:00 a.m. and not leave until around 5:00 p.m. the next day made it feel almost like I had booked two nights for the price of one. Would I stay here again? Probably!
