After checking out of the Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong, I took the ferry across to Macau for my next stop: Andaz Macau.
I arrived at the hotel at around 6pm, ready to see what one of the newest luxury hotels in Galaxy Macau had to offer.
At just $152 per night, I already thought I had found a pretty good deal. What I wasn’t expecting was the level of hospitality, the suite upgrade and some of the thoughtful touches that followed.
By the end of the stay, that $152 rate felt like an absolute steal.
Andaz Macau at a Glance
Andaz Macau is located within the massive Galaxy Macau integrated resort in Cotai. The hotel opened in September 2023 and features 715 rooms and suites. It is also directly connected to the Galaxy International Convention Center and Galaxy Arena.
The hotel has a strong sense of place, with design influences inspired by Macau’s mix of Chinese and Portuguese heritage.
As part of Galaxy Macau, guests are also within easy reach of the resort’s huge selection of restaurants, shopping, entertainment and other luxury hotels.
Check-in and First Impressions
I was first welcomed by a concierge on the ground floor, who personally escorted me to the elevator and directed me to the hotel lobby on the sixth floor for check-in.
This was where I genuinely began to experience what I would describe as true Andaz hospitality.
Cedric and his team handled my check-in, and everyone I interacted with was warm, polite and attentive. As a World of Hyatt Globalist, my status was recognized, and I was informed that I had been upgraded to “one of their best suites.” That immediately got my attention.
During check-in, the team also explained some of the amenities available during my stay, including the Andaz Lounge, 24-hour fitness center, swimming pool and complimentary access to the Grand Resort Deck.
With check-in completed, it was time to head upstairs and see exactly what “one of their best suites” looked like.
The Andaz Suite: Room 1809
My upgrade turned out to be an Andaz Suite, with Room 1809 located on the 18th floor of the West Tower. At approximately 68 square meters (732 square feet), it was a substantial upgrade and felt spacious from the moment I walked in.
The suite featured a separate living area and bedroom, with floor-to-ceiling windows bringing in plenty of natural light and offering impressive views across the Galaxy Macau complex and the surrounding area.
The living room had plenty of seating and genuinely felt more like an apartment than a typical hotel room. Also waiting for me in the suite was a thoughtful welcome amenity: a plate of fresh fruit, a selection of sweets, a bottle of wine and a handwritten welcome note. It was a nice touch and another example of the personal service I experienced throughout my stay.
Considering the hotel opened in 2023, I expected it to feel relatively new, but what impressed me was just how well maintained everything was. The furniture, fixtures and finishes still looked almost brand new.
The Bedroom
The bedroom featured a king-size bed positioned against a stylish headboard, with plenty of space around it. And as you can probably tell from the photos, this was the kind of bed that immediately made you want to cancel your plans and stay in the room.
The floor-to-ceiling windows continued into the bedroom, with views across Galaxy Macau and the surrounding Cotai area.
The bedside setup was also surprisingly thoughtful. The nightstand included convenient lighting controls as well as a wireless charging station. It is a small feature, but one I really appreciated.
These are the kinds of details that make a room feel properly designed for the modern traveler.
That Bathroom
Now, the bathroom. This was easily one of the highlights of the suite.
The space was enormous. In fact, it genuinely felt almost as large as the room I had just checked out of at the Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong before taking the ferry to Macau.
The bathroom featured a large walk-in shower, deep soaking bathtub, double vanity, an enclosed smart toilet and a smart-glass window that could instantly switch to privacy mode.
And yes, I definitely put the bathtub to good use.
The bathroom also came stocked with Byredo bath amenities, two bathrobes and two Andaz-branded slippers. Everything about the space felt upscale.
Complimentary Minibar
One of the perks of staying at Andaz Macau is the complimentary minibar.
Hyatt lists the minibar as complimentary once per stay, which is a nice benefit, especially at a luxury property where minibar prices can quickly become unreasonable.
It was another small detail that made the stay feel more generous.
Turn-Down Service
Later that evening, I left the room for about an hour to explore the Galaxy Promenade. When I returned, the hotel had another surprise waiting for me. Turn-down service had been completed, but this was not just a simple bed refresh.
On the table was a bottle of Espresso Martini, coffee beans, two glasses, a cocktail shaker, an ice bucket and a small card explaining how to prepare the drink: pour, shake and serve.
I don’t drink alcohol, but I still appreciated the gesture.
To me, luxury hospitality is often about the effort rather than the actual item. Seeing a hotel take the time to create a little experience inside the room made the stay feel more personal. There was more.
Slippers had been placed neatly on each side of the bed, and on the nightstand was a handwritten note together with two deep-sleep pillow sprays. That was luxury treatment on another level.

Andaz Lounge
During check-in, I was told about the Andaz Lounge, which is available to all hotel guests.
The lounge serves light bites, snacks and refreshing drinks throughout the day, making it a convenient place to stop by for something quick without leaving the hotel.
The lounge itself is relatively small, though, and I wouldn’t consider it somewhere you would necessarily want to spend a lot of time. For me, it worked better as a place to grab a drink or a light snack and relax for a short while before heading back out.
Still, having complimentary access as part of the stay was a nice additional benefit for all guests.
Fitness Center
The gym looked modern and well equipped, which fits with the rest of the property. There was a good selection of cardio and strength-training equipment, and the space felt clean and well maintained.
Fresh fruit, bottled water, infused water and towels were also provided, which was a nice touch.
The facilities extend beyond the workout area, with restrooms and showers available. There was also a separate grooming area that almost felt like a small salon, complete with mirrors, seating and hair dryers.
Overall, it was a very well-equipped fitness center and another area where Andaz Macau paid attention to the smaller details.
Indoor Swimming Pool
Andaz Macau also has its own heated 19-meter indoor pool, open from 7am to 10pm. There are cabanas around the pool for guests who simply want to relax.
Interestingly, the pool was barely occupied during my visit. And there is probably a very good reason for that.
Most guests are likely heading to the much larger Grand Resort Deck instead.
Grand Resort Deck
Guests staying at Andaz Macau receive complimentary access to Galaxy Macau’s Grand Resort Deck. This is a major perk.
The Grand Resort Deck covers around 75,000 square meters and includes an 8,000-square-meter wave pool, a 575-meter adventure river ride, waterslides, a white-sand beach, kids’ areas and multiple poolside dining options. Complimentary access is officially valued at MOP888, or roughly US$110.
There were plenty of cabanas and beach chairs available during my visit.
This is almost a destination by itself, so I am going to give the Grand Resort Deck its own standalone post rather than trying to squeeze everything into this hotel review.
Breakfast at Andaz Kitchen
Breakfast is served at Andaz Kitchen, located on Level 6 of the North Tower. Andaz Kitchen is an all-day dining restaurant with live cooking stations and a mix of Portuguese, Macanese, Chinese and Western dishes. Breakfast is currently served daily from 6:30am to 10:30am.
As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I received complimentary breakfast during the stay.
For families, this can be a particularly valuable Globalist benefit, since eligible stays can include breakfast for up to two adults and two registered children.
Staying Inside Galaxy Macau
One of the biggest advantages of Andaz Macau is that the hotel is part of the much larger Galaxy Macau resort complex.
You can walk from the hotel into Galaxy Promenade and access shopping, dining, entertainment and several other luxury hotels without really needing to leave the resort.
That makes Andaz particularly convenient if your trip is centered around Cotai.

The next day, I took an Uber ride to Wynn Macau specifically to see the Performing Lake fountain show. Having seen the fountain shows at the Bellagio Las Vegas many times, I went in with fairly high expectations.
That was probably my mistake.
The show itself was much smaller and less impressive than I had expected. I spent roughly $25 round-trip on Uber just to see it, and personally, I wouldn’t make the trip again solely for the fountain.
That doesn’t mean you should skip Wynn Macau altogether. If you’re already visiting the property or exploring that part of Macau, the fountain is worth stopping to see. But if you’re staying at Galaxy Macau and considering making a special trip just for the show, I would suggest you manage your expectations.
Getting Around Galaxy Macau: Free Shuttle Bus
One useful thing to know about staying at Andaz Macau is that Galaxy Macau provides a complimentary shuttle service around the resort.
A free shuttle runs between Andaz Macau and the Crystal Lobby every 5-10 minutes, with service shown from 9:00am to 2:00am during my visit. From the Crystal Lobby, you can connect to other Galaxy shuttle routes serving places such as ferry terminals, border crossings and other destinations around Macau.
This is especially useful because Galaxy Macau is huge. Depending on where you’re trying to go within the complex, taking the shuttle can save quite a bit of walking.
Tip: Check the current shuttle schedule during your stay, as routes and operating hours can change.
Final Thoughts
Andaz Macau exceeded my expectations.
The service was excellent from the moment I arrived. The suite was spacious, modern and beautifully maintained. The bathroom was outstanding, the turn-down service was memorable, breakfast was great, and complimentary access to the Grand Resort Deck added significant value to the stay.
Then there is the price. At $152 per night, this stay felt like an absolute steal.
Macau has no shortage of extravagant luxury hotels, but Andaz Macau manages to offer something slightly different. It feels upscale without being overly formal, and there is a level of personality in the service and design that fits the Andaz brand very well.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely.
And at anything close to the rate I paid, I would not hesitate.
